Philippe Kahn
President, CEO, Chairman and Co-founder
Philippe is CEO of Fullpower Technologies, Inc. which he co-founded with Sonia Lee in 2003.

Industry leaders and countless publications have lauded Philippe for his visionary strategy, technology innovation and his ability to drive an entrepreneurial culture. Philippe is considered one of the most innovative and dynamic leaders in the tech industry.

Education and Background

Philippe studied at the ETH in Zurich Switzerland and Sofia-Antipolis. Philippe received his Masters Degree in Mathematics. Philippe graduated in classical flute, with simultaneous minors in composition and chamber music from the Zurich Music Conservatory.

Philippe is fluent in 4 languages: English, French, Spanish, and German. Besides working passionately with the teams at Fullpower, Philippe spends his time with his wife, Sonia, and his four children, with whom he enjoys sharing his passion for playing classical music and improvisational jazz, as well as sailing, surfing, backcountry skiing and Crossfit. Philippe is also a trustee of the Lee-Kahn Foundation (www.lee-kahn.org).

Recognition

In September 2003, Philippe was honored by the Computer History Museum for his continuous innovation and contributions to technology. In February 2002, the International Imaging Industry Association (www.I3A.org) selected Philippe Kahn for its prestigious Leadership of the Year Award. Kahn has received numerous honors and awards including his induction into the industry hall of fame, recognition by BYTE Magazine as one of the Top 20 Most Important People in the history of the computer industry, as well as being the recipient of numerous awards for innovation and technical excellence. Philippe is a technologist, an innovator and an inventor holding several dozen patents.

Business Successes

2003 - Present: Fullpower is Philippe’s fourth successful company and the leader for wearable sensing solutions. Fullpower solutions span renewable energies, mobile devices, sports and life-sciences.

1997 - 2005: At LightSurf, Philippe played a key role in shaping the imaging and the wireless industries, creating the first complete camera-phone in 1997 and licensing the IP to companies such as J-Phone/Softbank, Sharp, Nokia, Samsung, LG, Sanyo, Verizon, Sprint and many others around the world. In 2005, Verisign successfully acquired LightSurf.

1994-1998: Starfish pioneered what is known today as "push technology" with a vision for OTA global synchronization and integration of wireless and wireline devices. Motorola and subsequently Nokia acquired Starfish and the Starfish Push-Server server is alive and well today as part of Nokia's OVI backbone.

1983-1994: Philippe Founded Borland (NASDAQ: BORL) in 1983 and was CEO of the company for 11 years until 1994. Under Philippe's leadership Borland became the global leader for professional development tools.

Sonia Lee
Co-founder
Sonia co-founded Fullpower Technologies, Inc. with Philippe Kahn in 2003.

Fullpower is Sonia’s third successful company. Co-founder of LightSurf with Philippe, Sonia also co-founded Starfish with Philippe in 1994 and served as President of Starfish from 1994 to 1998. Prior to founding Starfish, she established Sonia Lee and Associates, a Silicon Valley consulting firm specializing in user interface design and communications graphics. A graduate of The School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Sonia worked as a designer with the Basic Industry Research Laboratory at Northwestern University and the Whitewater Group.

Besides working with the teams at Fullpower Sonia spends her time with her family with whom she enjoys sharing her passion for art, snowboarding, Nordic freestyle skiing and Yoga. Sonia is also a trustee of the Lee-Kahn Foundation (www.lee-kahn.org).
