SANTA CRUZ, CA–(Marketwire – September 22, 2009) – Fullpower Technologies, creators of MotionX-GPS™, the top-selling navigation application for the iPhone, announces MotionX-GPS 7.1, featuring MotionX Import.
MotionX Import gives users the power to wirelessly import GPS tracks and waypoints into their iPhone MotionX application. Users can import hiking trails, bike rides, running trails, ski runs, sailing adventures, kayaking trips, points of interest (POIs), or any other similar tracks or waypoints. In addition, MotionX-GPS 7.1 also allows users to wirelessly import GPS data from social networking websites directly into the MotionX-GPS 7.1 application.
“MotionX Track Import delivers the power of a connected navigation solution to millions of MotionX users,” said Philippe Kahn, CEO of Fullpower. “Now MotionX-GPS users can share each other’s outdoor experiences instantly.”
MotionX-GPS V7.1 embeds the functionality of an advanced handheld GPS unit into a simple and intuitive iPhone application that is ideal for outdoor activities such as cycling, running, sailing, skiing, kayaking, flying, motorcycling and other outdoor activities.
MotionX-GPS customers have already made creative use of this solution in many ways:
User Case Study 1: MotionX-GPS and Fishing Hotspots
Captain John Brummerhop sells fishing hotspots and uses MotionX-GPS.
“I am thrilled to be a part of this and it’s really the reason I bought an iPhone. I knew that this was the market of the future. Angler-Products.com takes fishing locations from local fishing maps and turns them into files that GPS units can read. With the new MotionX-GPS import function, we can provide these fishing locations to anglers in real-time via their iPhone. We are very excited about this new way to distribute our fishing hotspots to clients that want them right now, not a few days from now. We feel this will really improve our sales and our customers’ satisfaction.”
“I am a licensed U.S. Coast Guard Captain and a fishing guide for many of the bays in Texas. My fishing hotspots have sold well to the local angling community, but with a large investment in educating the consumer. iPhone and MotionX-GPS users are already quite savvy, so I’m very excited about this new market.”
User Case Study 2: MotionX-GPS Users Share Cycling Tracks
David Bernstein of the FredCast Cycling Podcast recently recorded a track with MotionX-GPS of the Glenwild Loop near Park City, Utah. He shared the track via email with a fellow biker visiting from Texas who wanted to ride the loop. Using GPX import, Bernstein’s friend can import the track and follow it directly with MotionX-GPS.
“I wanted to be able to record the Glenwild loop because I have a friend who comes and visits Park City once a year, and he’s always looking for new trails to ride. I unloaded my bike and the first thing I did was load Motion-GPS and let it acquire a satellite signal. I hopped on my bike, pressed the start button on the Track Recorder, slipped my phone in my jersey pocket and didn’t give it another thought until I returned back to the trailhead. After finishing, I saved the track and sent it to my friend as an email. When he comes here next, he’ll be able to upload it into his device. It’s a great app, something you should check out, and best of all, you don’t need that handheld unit anymore.”
